All-Party Parliamentary Human Rights Group: Privacy Notice December 2024

The All-Party Parliamentary Human Rights Group (PHRG) (whose All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Register entry is updated periodically) processes personal data for the purposes of:

  • maintaining its internal membership list (there is no such list of non- Parliamentary passholders), and using it to advertise PHRG and related Parliamentary activities;

  • communicating with individuals and bodies within and outside of Parliament, particularly those with expertise in its field of work;

  • organising and managing its events;

  • keeping minutes of meetings, including comments by speakers and participants;

  • posting about meetings and events on its website;

  • highlighting relevant information through the use of social media;

  • research and conducting due diligence;

  • administering its accounts; and,

  • dealing with matters relating to its staff, contractors and job postings.

The PHRG’s Chair and Registered Contact, Fabian Hamilton MP, is responsible for the PHRG’s compliance with the law and related rules of Parliament.

The data which the PHRG may obtain and process includes:  

  • Name, title, email address and other contact details;

  • Role and/or the organisation that persons work for;

  • Views expressed as a speaker or participant at a PHRG meeting;

  • Views or other information which is publicly available.

Certain types of personal information are in a special category under data protection laws, as they are deemed more sensitive. Examples would be information about health, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and political views.

The PHRG only processes such information for the purposes set out above.


The PHRG’s lawful basis for processing all data is that it is in its legitimate interests to do so.


The UK GDPR condition applicable for processing 'special category data' is that the PHRG is a non-profit body.

The PHRG will hold this information securely and keep it for no more than five years.


The PHRG will not transfer this personal data to any other organisation, and does not use cookies on its website to process information.


In accordance with UK Parliamentary rules on APPGs, the names of PHRG members (but not their contact details) are published on its website or provided on request.


On the Further Information page of its website, the PHRG has obtained the consent of non-governmental organisations listed for their inclusion, and for all listed organisations, only references information from reputable publicly available sources, particularly the organisations’ own websites. The PHRG is not responsible, however, for the accuracy of such information, or any subsequent third-party communication with these organisations.


Please note that, unfortunately, despite the PHRG’s best endeavours, there is always risk involved in sending information over the internet. You therefore do so at your own risk.


Finally, the PHRG can be contacted via the Contact page on its website, to request access to your data, the withdrawal of your consent for use of your data, or the correction of your data.
